It sounds like happy happy joy joy in MacCentral Land. But there is a small chance that they are going to have to shave corners off the square peg before they fit us inot the round hole which is MaCWorldville. Moderation up the wazoo? No speaking of politics, religion, stem cells? Maybe so. Maybe not.

Nah, they wouldn't dare. But all the same, if it's a chilly reception, I'm good with saying "what's done is done-" and packing it all in. Some of us will reassemble here, some at MM, some at both. Whatever suits each of us. Hell, nothing lasts forever. My bald head and slowly expanding waistline reminds me of that, every freakin' day.
I'll see how it shakes out and I do frequent MM, but I can only stand so much fluff for just a little while. I usually hang in the Political sandbox more than the MM lounge. If the folks I know are here, then this is where I'll be too.
CSI at nine is a very good justification for a laptop.
I'm not anywhere near sure what happened to my posts over there last night, and I don't really care. But I have a feeling it's a sure sign of the shape of things to come. I'll be in here, waiting for the others once the lights go out.

I dunno, MacBeemer. There have been sure signs of an onrushing apocalypse over at MC before, only to be met with... continued existence. I've met JimD; he's an honourable man and not one who wastes his time with petty thoughts of revenge or comeuppance. We might do better to consider the folks above him, however. You may be right that the cold corporate feel of MW may have a chilling effect on whatever new niche they fashion for the MacCentralites they are preparing to cast out... but I'm going to wait and see.
Well, what else are we going to do anyway?
CSI was good tonight. As good as episodic TV gets, actually. I'll miss Sarah Sidle. She was a true one of a kind.
The reason I came to MacCentral in the first place was because of the excessive moderation at apple.com discussions and getting banned for a month as punishment. I'd hate to be in a situation like that again, so I'm also keeping my toe in the door here.
I don't know. Just yesterday I registered into the MW forums, but it just didn't feel cozy. Too crowded and so on. Could also be of course something about getting used to it, but the idea of moderation and the sheer amount of different forums and users seemed kind of clinical in a way. I find it hard to adjust to the idea that it would develop the same kind of close community feeling, as as happened with MacCentral through the years. And that moderation...I sort of understand the point in that in a forum that size, but if some topics turn out to be a no-no in the name of political correctness even if they were discussed in a civilized, albeit rather heated manner sometimes. As much as I personally cringe sometimes on some opinions reading those debates on the MC Lounge, it still brings a human touch in there. Personally I have just about stopped replying on the political discussions, I still read them with great interest in my never-ending quest to understand human behavior and various thought processes. Yeah, I'm weird, and I probably should take some psychology courses on top of the cognitive psychology and psychology of usability books I've read as research material in my usability thesis...and there I go again straying on the original topic.
Oh well, everything is everything and nothing is permanent except change itself. And at least we have already migrated and kind of established ourselves in here as well.
